The Department of Employee Trust Funds announces the appointment of Renee Walk as Director of the Office of Strategic Health Policy (OSHP).
As head of OSHP, Walk leads the office overseeing the operations of the Group Health Insurance Program (GHIP) and other insurance plans benefitting approximately 244,000 state and local government employees, annuitants of the Wisconsin Retirement System, and their dependents.
“Renee’s technical, industry, and GHIP-specific experience is vital as we create critically responsive insurance programs, navigate the future of the health insurance industry, and modernize our insurance administration system to improve the benefits and outcomes for our customers” said Shirley Eckes, Deputy Secretary of ETF.
Walk was promoted from her previous role as head of OSHP’s Programs and Policy Unit. She has been with ETF since 2016 and also occupied policy advisor roles in OSHP.

Prior to ETF, Walk was Product Manager at WEA Trust, where she designed and oversaw group health insurance products. She was also a Program and Policy Analyst at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, where she created programs to help medically complex Medicaid members receive better services.
Walk holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is currently a member of various committees and workgroups of the nonpartisan National Academy of State Health Policy.
